Ever given that Margot profiled the Edinburgh apartment of Nina and Craig Plummer—the designers and shopkeepers driving Ellei Property, then called Ingredients LDN—we’ve returned to its quiet, refined simplicity. In addition to their relatively new studio room, in a 19th-century Renaissance-fashion building previously used as a church corridor, the duo photographs all of their offerings in situ in their flat, and each element is built with this in thoughts: lime-washed walls for a neutral, evocative backdrop, a kitchen area island on casters for effortless maneuvering.
Just lately, on returning again to the post, we found something else about the place: a definite Shaker inflection in the kitchen. Fitting, considering that Nina explained to Margot at the time: “We like to feel that if we use our values to condition our homes, our houses will, in turn, condition the daily life that unfolds within them.”
